39/48 Yaimi
Filed in Blogathon 2007Yaimi is the first of the children I sponsored through Christian’s Children Fund. She was six, and now she’s thirteen. She’s taller than me. I think that is pretty cool. Her parents, her sister, her baby brother and herself live in a one-room house in rural Mexico. I’d look up where, exactly, but I put the details in storage as part of our ongoing house move.
Yaimi is smart, and funny. Once a year I get a report card with information on what projects she’s been involved in and how she does at school. She mostly gets As and Bs. I also hear about where the pooled money from sponsorships is going to improve the people’s living conditions. Once the project is finished, and the people are self-sufficient, CCF will pull out. That was supposed to be now, but I don’t think they’re pulling out yet.
We don’t have a common language. Our letters are translated each way. But I always get an answer to everything I send, and I’ve loved receiving letters along the way. It was a special day when, instead of a family member writing the letter, she herself started to do it.
Please make a pledge, if you can.

Nobody’s stupid! We’re all tired and mentally finished for the night. ;)
