White Raven AwardThe first ever White Raven Award goes to Polli of Polliwog’s Pond.

I’ve been aware of blogs-outside-LJ for a long time, but I can honestly say that it was Polli who somehow planted the hook that drew me in. On a personal level, I’m rather happy about that.

But there’s just something about Polli. On the face of it, she lives an ordinary life–raising her six kids on a small island. And yet you quickly notice that there’s nothing ordinary about her. You read, and realize that she’s extraordinarily generous. She gives people a virtual leg up when needed. She hands out awards with obvious pleasure. She is just a person who loves to give.

Polli is adept at finding neat stuff to share, and sets down her own thoughts when the mood takes her. She takes part in bunches of activities–I don’t know how she makes the time, but was truly glad for her company during the blogathon a few weeks back. It takes a special kind of person to stay up for 24 hours poking people you’ve never met “irl”. :)

In a nutshell, Polli is a sweetheart, a truly supportive person, and her blog is So. Very. Pretty.

I am glad to give Polli the first White Raven Award.

My friend, I wish you could hear me say this in person, so you could see the smile on my face and the tears in my eyes. You know I’ve been a fan of yours for some time. We met on BookCrossing and grew a friendship on LiveJournal. I cherish my copy of your book. And all the inspiration you have given me over the years, even when we haven’t been in touch for a long time … and many times you have no clue that you touched me and helped me in some way.

I am very surprised right nowa nd so so so truly honored. I don’t put any of my little award badges on my sidebar, to keep it neat but this one will go there. It is special to me. For so many reasons. Some of which I’ll tell youin person one day.

I love and adore you LRM. And I am so excited to see you actively blogging. I think it will bring great things for you.

Congratulations Polli! And though I don’t frequent many blogs, I think you’ve made a good choice LRM. From what I’ve seen, Polli definitely deserves it.

Oh Mike, I’m crying, you’ve made me laugh so hard. I got a lot out of your single “I” in your comment. :-)

I do not know why my post ate your post. But it did leave the eyes behind, I suppose that’s something.

I think Polli knows how much you care for her. (It’s just as well, really.)
