Hello. I’m in Berkeley. Berkely apparently is an adventurous kind of a place. um, I was pulling into a parking lot in order to figure out which direction I had gone in because I was fairly sure by that point that it was the wrong one and somebody in an SUV decided in their inherent wisdom that they would overtake me on the left and they knocked me over. Uh, they then drove away. Unfortunately I have no comeback because I have no registration number and all I could tell anyone was that it was a black SUV and they saw me because I saw them look. um, but never mind. Presence of mind was not there. So, I enlisted some help from some kind guys who were in the parking lot and didn’t see the accident but saw me fall over and we got the bike into the lot, at which point I saw that it was leaking copious amounts of oil. So, I called Don and he has subsequently showed up and rescued me and we have now plugged the crack in the crankcase. I have lost a mirror, I have lost a turn signal and I have war wounds. I also have bruises. Apart from that, and being exceedingly pissed off, it would appear that things are going to be okay although I’m going to have fun riding home on a footpeg that is now angled upwards about 180 degrees. But, I’ve done it before. So that’s me. I’m finished and I will be home in an hour and a half.
