I’m having one of those days which I spend listlessly flipping between tasks that I am supposed to be doing and can’t. Part of it is that the change of routine from night own to early bird is taking its toll. And I’m anxious about work tomorrow. I’m not actually anxious about the work part of it: I’m anxious about the routine/time-eating nature of it. Ah well, things are usually not as bad as they seem.

But still…I feel stuck today. I shall probably go for a ride. That usually helps.

What do you do when you feel unmotivated? (Going back to sleep isn’t an option.)

I usually try meditation first, doing Reiki on myself and going through the 5 principles. If I can’t find the quiet for meditation, I usually try a book or some sort of brain candy, stepping out of myself for a bit, then trying it all over again.

If the funk is hormonal, I drink a glass of wine with a few drops of Rescue Remedy in it. :)

Rescue remedy…yes, I need to get some of that.

I’ve been taking my JP before work.

    Five principles?

    The Five Principles of Reiki:
Just for Today, I will count my many blessings
Just for Today, I will not worry.
Just for Today, I will not anger. (or get angry)
Just for Today, I will do my work Honestly.
Just for Today, I will show kindness to every living thing.

Normally these are part of my daily morning meditations. I’ll stop and give my self a few examples of each. My many blessings: my children are happy and bright and eager to learn, my husband who is willing to work so hard to provide financially and emotionally for his family. For today I will not worry about, what others may think, about events that are beyond my control. For today I will not be angry, and that includes frustration when what I may think is proper does not agree with what others may think is right. etc.

If I”m stuck at work, I’ll go take 15 minutes and go through giving principle specific business examples. My blessings include a business that I can work at home and still be a full time mom for my kids, I won’t worry about the next promotion, I won’t be angry when people flake out and not show up when they say they will. I’ll do my work honestly, making those phone calls when I’m tired of them and so forth. Usually that kicks me back into gear. It’s hard to meditate on doing your work honestly saying you’ll do this and that, then go flake off and watch TV or something. :)
