Turlock in pictures
Filed in Days OutWe’re not sure what they were doing, but one of the rooms down from us had ejected all its furniture. Maybe they were going for the “outdoor living” style.

These were some pretty weeds wild sunflowers, growing up the on-ramp embankment, also outside our room.

Turlock had a really cool movie theatre. Purple! Neon!

Where all good mailboxes go to die.

This is not the Ripon I know and love.

Heliantus californicus is one of a handful of local wild species, and is very common in the San Joaquin valley.

Now, that’s why I really like having you as a friend: you know all this California flora and fauna stuff :)
I have edited my post to read “wild sunflowers.” It’s funny, I sort of wondered if they were sunflowers, but I didn’t know that they grew wild. :)
And it’s why I love California too: flowers still blooming in late October :)
