Thursday Thirteen: #13: Thirteen reasons why we always keep duct tape and electrical tape around

  1. To re-affix one’s licence plate after the existing licence plate holder rips itself off the motorcycle and jams in the wheel.

  2. To cover the styrofoam block into which the replacement makeshift tail light is jammed so that it doesn’t look quite so terrible.

  3. To wrap the new wiring needed when the tail light is ripped off the back of the bike (see above).

  4. To patch up the tears in one’s motorcycle seat.

  5. To hold down a splinter which has spiked up from one’s glasses, making it difficult to insert them through one’s helmet without snagging one’s hair, which is decidedly undesirable.

  6. To give the loose handle of a frying pan a stay of execution.

  7. To re-wrap a rapidly-dissolving hand grip.

  8. To tape the blinds to the window so the cats can’t creep behind them (theoretically).

  9. To hold an errant flopping indicator stalk in place.

  10. To block a hole in the windscreen edging where rust finally got the upper hand.

  11. To hold two pieces of a broken rabbit-ear antenna together and still get reception (after a fashion).

  12. To mask off areas for painting.

  13. To tape ducks.

boy my husband agrees with this list:)

  • Why DO cats try to get in behind the blinds? I just had to replace three sets b/c my sweet little fur ball decided he likes it ever so much back there….and in his enjoyment he broke the edges off. That always adds a touch of class to any window – broken blinds. Next time I’ll try duct tape…

  • Duct tape also works on steering wheels. Happy TT.

  • Oh dear, you have had a time lately from the sounds of it.

  • Those are very sound reasons. I like the penultimate (ducks).

  • Yes, but what color duct tape do you use? Are you a purist like me, or into all those designer colors like red and orange?

  • …also useful for subduing passengers who ABSOLUTELY need to lean any way they fell except with the driver or even the bike.

  • It’s always handy to shut the wife up with! – a joke of course :)

  • I’ve given up on having blinds and cats. Now I just have cats. :P

  • We should try that blind taping one; see if it works with our cats.

  • Lori: Grin! Why am I not surprised?

  • Samantha: who knows what goes through the minds of cats? *grin* Happy TT.

  • Pussreboots: Cool!

    Robin: No kidding. ;)

  • BNP: Where I work there is a line of craft duct tape called “duck tape” ;)

  • Susan: Just the black stuff, but not out of purism–it’s just cheaper. ;)

  • Mathew: remind me not to ride on back with you. ;)

  • Oh, that’s fine, Zigire. It works on husbands/boyfriends as well.

    :-P

  • Lynne: good solution. I approve. ;)

  • Nicholas: You have to keep re-taping it for it to work. Once you forget, the battle is lost. :)

  • The Duck Tape calendar is hilarious!
Thanks for visiting my Mabon TT. :-)

  • You’re welcome, Tink :)
