Teresa D, Mesquite, Texas
Filed in Blog, Reader CommentsI started and finished reading my copy while I was in the hospital. It was a wonderful companion! Some of the funny parts left me in pain though - it’s difficult to laugh with a healing abdominal incision, but well worth it. I had a lot of trouble with the pain medication’s side-effects, and your book helped to keep my spirits up, reminding me that this WILL pass and that there will be even more of life to discover once my confinement is over.
I felt comforted by your admissions of fear in the book. Sometimes as I’m opening the gate just to ride to work, I get a twinge of dread and worry in my gut. I do my best to put it behind me as I leave the driveway, and after a couple of miles, that feeling begins to melt away as I am reminded that I *do* know how to ride carefully. I suppose if we stop feeling that little fear, it means we’re not fully paying attention to the responsibility we are taking on when we get on our Beasties. I get on Blue thinking “I’ve only been riding for three years! I only have 5000 miles behind me!” Then when the turns come easy and the responses to traffic are made automatically, without having to think about the process, those “only’s” turn into thoughts of successful accomplishment rather than limitations.
I’m glad to have read “Little Twist”.
