27/48 Stevenage

Stevenage is an unremarkable place in the south-east of England. Just before I married my first husband, we bought a house and moved in together for the four months before we did marry. We were content for a while in our little two-up, two-down home.
Stevenage is where I remembered that I was supposed to be a writer. I met two of my longest-time friends there, Talitha and Taliesin, both of whom are still glad to see me when I go to the UK. We met at a writing class where the seed of all I do now was planted, and at that time I wrote fiction and edited my novel and set the world to rights with like-minded companions.
As a travel location, I can’t think of a single thing to recommend it, although it must be said that I did buy my first set of bike leathers in Old Town Stevenage, a quaint little subset that was the original spark of the town. (Well, okay, the Chinese chicken pizzas from Old Town Stevenage were yummy.) It’s what happened while I was there that had meaning. I picked up motorcycling again. I picked up writing again. I created my first web site there. And I found the beginnings of what I believe about life, a long drawn-out process that I’m sure will never stop evolving.
The person that I am now started in Stevenage. So, for that reason, Stevenage is cool.

Back story - yay! It’s nice to hear about all the little places that have helped make you, you!

This is a good idea for a longer article, or a series. Mind if I give it a try in the future?

Marina: you mean “places that make me me?” I might brew a philosophical-type article for use over here, but we have different geographical areas to play in–go for it. :)
