Stamina

Filed in Motorcycling

You know how I rode to Texas and back last year, and later to Idaho and back? Those were days of 150-300 miles, one after the other, and the stamina built up over time.

Well, this last weekend, we had sunshine after literally weeks of rain and yuckiness. It would appear that I lost my stamina–oops! I did a sixty-mile landmark-hunt on Saturday and lead my first ever group ride on Sunday. After twenty-five miles I was exhausted.

Admittedly both were quite long in hours and at least one required an early start; but I remember the times when just riding for an hour would render me brainless for the remainder of the evening, and the end result wasn’t much different from that.

As to the rides, they were glorious, but they really both belong in an article. I will note, however, that leading seven women along some of my favorite blow-off-steam roads, and the looks we got along the way, gave me a true thrill. It was worth all the planning and nerves just so that my husband could call me Magnificent Ride-Meister all night. ;-)
