Some cheese with my whine

Filed in Britain 2004, Travel

Scotland is as beautiful as ever, and I’m enjoying being with my family very much. I get to meet sis-in-law and nieces tomorrow, some more fleetingly than others. I talked to brother and SIL and (sort of) to younger niece this evening on the telling bone.

But I’m upset. I’m aaware that I’m naive, and I know that in terms of liability it’s on me, but my laptop got destroyed in flight. The airline did not tell me that one must not put electronics and delicates in the hold. I was exhausted from hoiking 40 lbs of stuff across London and not getting any sleep last night, and put the laptop, in its padded case, in a bag full of clothes and other soft paddie things, into the hold. Because the info is on the website I am sure I will not get compensated, but the phrase “sue the rotters” springs to mind. If they can inform you of all the things the law requires one to not take, surely they can inform you of the things that their lousy handling techniques require one to not take. Anyway, wanted to show my parents some photographs, and the screen is cracked all the way through. They must’ve put an elephant on top of it with some force - Semioticghost and Griz can verify that it was perfectly intact before I got to Luton.
