It’s not going particularly well
Filed in BlogEvery thirty or so sheets my shredder overheats and stops mid-sheet. I leave it, and the sheets suck through when the motor is good and ready. It can be a while.
I asked Don to remove my closet doors so that I could use the closet to store things I was not putting into storage. The doors came off their tracks long ago and were hanging on by a thread and could neither close nor open. I had this dumb idea that they were going to fit at a right angle to the closet, which was fine until I realized that they are exactly the height of my room and therefore cannot go into the closet space and there isn’t enough space at a right angle to the closet to store them leaning against the wall. So I ended up with a small room full of very big doors, throwing a hissy fit and tossing great wads of bubble wrap and pillows and blankets out into the room from the closet because after all that’s what closets are for. To store soft things. Then one of the doors swung and landed on my big toe, which hurt, a lot, and I lost my temper and thumped the stupid door repeatedly and tomorrow I will have a bruise on both my toe and my hand to go with the torn-off skin from handling cardboard boxes and pegs all day.
What I wanted to do was crawl into the stupid closet and curl up like the cats do and have a good cry, but I’m too busy for that. My hours finally came in and are weighted towards the end of the week and I’m back to four eight hour shifts a week, which means that we have to be packed up and ready to go pretty much by Wednesday so that we can bung stuff in a U-Haul on Sunday. And somehow between now and then we have to find somewhere to live because I will not be homeless. I refuse. I decline that particular adventure.
