15/58 Seven favorite vegetables
Filed in Blogathon 2007Uh-oh! I’m flagging a bit! I’m going to take another easy one until I get my second wind. I’m hungry, too, so going to get lunch might help.
- Broccoli. I sometimes eat broccoli without anything else. Cruciferous vegetables rock!
- Carrots. The ones from the can are like candy, but I also like raw, fresh veggies. The best ones I ever ate were the ones I grew. They were wonky, but tasted sublime.
- Snow peas. They are called “mange-tout” in the UK because they are posh. Over here, they’re standard, and yummy, and I look forward to their being in season.
- Brussels sprouts. Especially little ones with lots of butter. Christmas dinner isn’t complete without them.
- Yellow beans. I don’t know if there is an official one but made into a salad they are wonderful.
- Spuds. So versatile. So yummy. So really not particularly good for you but…still.
- Mesclun lettuce. Really nice in a sandwich, fresh from the garden.

Yummy. I love nearly every vegetable there is I think.
Get some lunch and get refreshed. I will too. You are doing GREAT! Bob should be back soon as well.

Grab a bite, maybe a little walk or power-nap. You’re doing great!

Snow peas — oooh mange-tout does sound posh. Sean, my son, loves to garden. He planted a crop of snow peas this spring and raised them from seedlings. We had the BEST snow peas EVER. He’s working on a second crop of them now.
He also is growing flowers: sweet peas, sunflowers and nasturtiams.

Polli: cool. We like green things. :)
Buffra: :-)
Pussreboots: Yes, it’s funny these cultural differences. They still taste great though. Nothing nicer than fresh veggies!
