Saturday
Filed in BX Convention 2007Saturday was the start of the program, with talks on a variety of subjects. Ron, who recently moved close to where I live, has now moved into more of a “backstage” role and Scott, the new CEO, is taking over. Scott is hyper and should move the site forward. His wife, Rhonda is lovely and the perfect foil to the manic energy that Scott leaks with every step. Ron announced that he and his lady were going to be having a little boy, too. :-)
Big changes.
Scott outlined some of the ideas he had for the site, including developing a “self-publishing” section. What he means is, offering print-on-demand services (this is NOT self-publishing!) to the community at large. For a variety of reasons I'm unhappy with that idea, but I'm not going to go into that here.
We had a catered lunch, which was very yummy indeed. I didn't know where to go so I followed the breadcrumb trail of books. Bingo! Red rice and fish and chicken and roast veggies, o my! The dessert cakey things had fresh cream…bliss.
In the afternoon I did my talk. Even though I wasn't that nervous, I didn't feel I did that well. I was also disappointed that roughly half the attendees seemed to be missing. Most disappointing of all, though, nobody bought my book. I later learned that it was possible that people didn't realize I had them with me :: sigh ::. You live and learn. (I sold some books in the bar at the eleventh hour.)
