Rosemarkie (1)
Filed in Britain 2005 (2), Landmark-Hunting, TravelOn Tuesday morning, we went down to the Groam Museum in Rosemarkie, where my brother & family live. Generally my parents babysit the little one on Tuesdays, so this was by way of being in the right place.
The white building is the museum. It contains Pictish stones and photos/rubbings of them; they’re hundreds of years old and quite beautifully carved, the only remnants of a culture that didn’t really leave much behind for us to know them by.
Afterwards, we had a wander through the 19th century churchyard, and made our way down to the beach. En route we found a very ornate garden with scads of little white cherubs.
I enjoyed my walk on the beach. I’ve been coming to Rosemarkie for years and years, my brother and family moved here before I moved to the USA, and I don’t recall ever walking on the beach before. It was very peaceful.
