River view

We were camped with a view of the river. I didn’t realize until later that the river, connected to the ocean as it is by way of the Delta, has tides. The rock I sat on to contemplate the nature of the universe was submerged by mid-afternoon.

I don’t know if you can see a smudge in the sky here, not far above the river. That was the leading edge of a huge swathe of birds. Multiply the width of this photograph by about five and that’s how many birds there were. I couldn’t even begin to think how I would stitch my photographs together for a panorama.
