We now return you to your regularly scheduled travel blog

Filed in Blog

This is the last post of 2007, and as of now Raven’s Roads is being returned to its former status of a travel/adventures blog.

It is now almost a year since I first converted the static site of Raven’s Roads to a blog, and somehow got slurped up into the blogosphere. What a journey that has been–what potential there is out there for friendships, learning and the expansion of horizons. It is, and I mean this quite literally, quite awesome.

So saying, I’ve been becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the evolution of Raven’s Roads from a travel blog to a blog about travel and, well, everything else. ;)

I did a little soul searching and decided to add a fourth blog to the mix: Raven’s Range. It will launch at thirteen minutes past midnight, Pacific Time, on January 1st, 2008.

I am going to use Raven’s Range as the hub for the other three raven blogs: Raven’s Roads, Raven’s RV and
Raven’s Rides. In other words, when I post on those blogs, I will post to that effect on Raven’s Range.

What you follow depends on what interests you. Each of the four blogs now has its own mailing list and I’ll use that to send out a weekly summary of any posts. To subscribe and get a weekly heads up of new posts, just check the checkbox in the “Contact” forms.

Obviously, you can also nab each one through its RSS feed, too.

Raven’s Range will be my personal blog, about whatever happens to tickle my fancy. I suppose one might call it eclectic. ;) It will be the new home of the White Raven Awards.

Raven’s Roads will be about motorcycle travel, general travel, days out, and living an interesting life. There will be relevant book and product reviews. Its purpose is as a home for my travel writing, it’s where I sell my book,
and in a way is a portfolio for editors who might want to see the kind of writing I do.

Raven’s Rides is about the biking life, both my own and other people’s. It’s primarily targeted at motorcyclists. There will be some talk of riding from a rider’s perspective, but my travelogs will still come to Raven’s Roads. It will be the new home of Show Us Yer Bike and the Biker Blogrolls.

Raven’s RV is about the day to day of living in an RV and learning about the lifestyle. This one would be of interest to anyone who wants to vicariously follow the day-to-day adventures of someone living an alternative lifestyle–or who is an RVer.

It seems that my inbuilt propensity for weaving things in and out of one another has once again come to the surface. I’m sorry–I can’t help it. I’m wyrd. ;)

If you have any questions, please just ask. This feels like the right move for me, and I am truly looking forward to figuring out how to make the Raven Blogs all mesh together smoothly, to the writing I will need to do to feed them, and to chatting with you all through the comments.

Here’s to a happy new year for us all. :)

I’m not sure I followed all of that, but it sounds like you’re happy about it so I’m happy for you.

Only one question - Which blog is going to feature posts about your cat, and cats in general? Cause that’s what I’ll be reading. :)

On a serious note, it’s a kinda good thing you’re seperating the stuff. Topic focused blogs generally do well, or so I’ve heard.

Robin: lol! The long story short is this:

Raven’s Roads was supposed to be a travel blog.

I got sucked up into the blogosphere and it got wildly off topic.

I started a new blog especially for being off-topic and random.

    Yeah, I’m happy. :)

Oh…strange. The answer to this comment never got posted. (Man! I’m not ignoring you, I promise.)

Most of the cat stuff is on Raven’s RV, and there will be some on Raven’s Range, I’m sure.
