I was sort of sad to hear that the Queen Elizabeth II, cruise ship extraordinaire, would soon be taking her final voyage. Launched in 1967 and taking her maiden voyage two years later, in a couple of days’ time she will be heading off to Dubai to be turned into a hotel. I guess that is a fitting end for the magnificent ship, but it’s sad that she will no longer sail. There’s just something about her that’s interwoven with my growing up, always hearing snippets of news, but nevermore.
