RSS Birthday meme: Pam Ayres
Filed in BlogI was happy to discover that I was born on the same day as Pam Ayres, quite possibly the most famous poet in the UK.
Pam’s rhyming ditties and her famous oo-arr accent were part and parcel of TV as I grew up. When I was in Scotland last year, she was a guest on the quiz show Countdown and that brought back a bunch of memories. It started with her reading her verses at a club in Oxfordshire, then she was featured on TV talent show Opportunity Knocks and she’s never looked back since. Pam Ayres’ poems about everyday things are lovely and her fame is well-deserved.

Since I have now run out of birthdays, I’d like to note that the late Bill Owen, who played Compo in Last of the Summer Wine, was also born on March 14.

Heh, it’s funny, but this is the first post in your birthday meme series that I realized what the birthday meme was about. I didn’t get that you were supposed to talk about people/things that share your birthday. Nice idea :)

P.S. Is the ability to go to the next/previous post a relatively new addition to this design or did I just miss it when I looked for it before? I’d been missing it since the redesign, but now I’ll feel silly if I just hadn’t seen it.

LOL! No, you’re not going nuts. I realized that this feature wasn’t provided, so I went and nicked the code from the old design and put it in here. I missed it too.
The original meme is just to make a list, but I thought that was boring. ;)
