I’m going to follow on with my annual tradition of running a chat room party at my first ever website, annwn.com. :)
Please pay very close attention to the following two sentences:
- The chat room will have a “forbidden” message on it until about five minutes before the scheduled start. When the chat starts, the error message will go away.
- Here is the link.
OK? :: grin ::
All are welcome. Kids should be accompanied or at least supervised.
The party will start at 3pm Pacific Time, which is 23:00 GMT/UT on New Year’s Eve. (If you’re in Australia/NZ, it will already be New Year’s Day for you.)
I will be there on the hour, and wait for five minutes. If people show, that’s cool. We will still be chatting an hour later.
If nobody shows, I will show up at around 16:15 Pacific time, which is a little after midnight in the New Year (I shall be making some phone calls :) Just arrive, and wait. I will be there when I’m done talking to my loved ones.
I will then, most likely, take a break of around four hours. I will pick up the chat again at 20:00 Pacific Time. That’s 04:00 GMT. You are welcome to keep on chatting in the meantime, but my neck is stiff and I don’t think I can manage to stay at the computer the entire time.
From here on until midnight my time, I will be there at least on the hour, every hour, but most likely chatting away constantly.
If you need some help figuring out these time zones, please drop me a line telling me roughly where you live (to the nearest state) and I’ll help you.
Please come if you can! This has been a tradition since the year 2000 and it’s always great fun to meet people from all walks of life. :)

you’ve probably noticed… but the chat room is broken. I’ve tried two different browsers and I can’t stay logged in.
Here are the errors:
Can’t open /vservers/annwn/htdocs/cafeannwn/public/messages.html
Can’t open /vservers/annwn/htdocs/cafeannwn/public/messages.html
Can’t open /vservers/annwn/htdocs/cafeannwn/public/log.html
Can’t open chatter’s file

Oops, sorry — I was happily typing a message and got cut off. Not sure if it was a ‘nut behind the wheel’ problem or not.
Anyway, it was fun while it lasted. Thanks for your hard work setting it up.
Happy New Year, dear. Hope JR’s feeling better now.

Glad you enjoyed it, Marina. :)

Thanks Pussreboots! I was having a permissions nightmare. I don’t leave the chat room up year-round and it looks like changing the server created some, er…hiccups. ;)
Ah well, all worked out in the end. :)

Amber: the chat room’s kind of clunky. It’s very old technology but it seems to be usable, in one form or another, by most.
JR seems to be recovering…it seemed to coincide with my stuffing more vitamins down his pointy little neck. *hugs*

Urp! Let me rephrase/clarify. Not your fault. Chat room’s fault.
And, happy new year too!

Yay! I was hoping you’d be able to keep the tradition… we’ll be going to a very early party–a kid-friendly one–celebrating midnight in London. We’ll be back home well before the drunken people are on the road. So, I’ll catch you at some point in the evening.
