Near Colusa

Don’s taking a nap. I wanted to take a nap, too, but can’t settle. And the cats wanted fed. And now Don’s “downstairs” again so it seems that nap time is over. ;)

We’re in the area of Colusa, and this rest area had nice views over the mountains while we still had daylight, but the daylight is now more or less gone. We’re not far from our overnight, though, which is a good thing.

I didn’t realize that they grew rice here in the Central Valley. We passed at least one rice farm.

So, I guess we’ll be trucking on up the highway a bit more soon, and listening to more music. There’s a different feel to the air up here–the closer one gets to mountains, the brighter the energy seems. It’s exciting to be with mountains again. The ocean is my primary element, but nowhere near the ocean on the west coast is affordable any more. Deserts are dried up oceans, but too hot and barren for me to make a home there. It seems that mountains and valleys are our best bet.
