NaNoWriMo Day Seven (1)
Filed in NaNoWriMo2007I didn’t do any writing yesterday–well, not on the novel. ;) I think I’m probably writing three or four thousand words a day all told…it makes me very happy.
So today I just got done with my first session, and am now a little over the level I should be for day six. I have to write another 1500 or so words to catch up. I’ve flipped over onto the story writes itself thing. For example, my vampire’s companion wanted to go to Santa Cruz on the way to Monterey, so they hang out on the boardwalk and I have an opportunity to give a node to The Lost Boys, which is one of my favorite movies. Then she finds out that he’d been caught by a vampire hunter, so now she’s a fugitive. And ends up overnighting in Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world. It makes her sneeze.
I might have an amusing novella out of this at the end, with copious editing. I’ll have to put it out there as a serial or something, or an e-book. Which would you prefer?
I was quite reluctant to start NaNo this year, and I’m sure there will be other “can’t be bothered” moments, but it’s a great exercise in just going with the flow. But now I’m just starting to have fun. I think the people who give up on it are the ones who try to make it good. I have a rough plot thread to follow now and am just running with it and seeing where it goes.
How’s it going for you?

Speak for yourself. Mine IS good.
LOL
I’m having fun with it too. Oh, and did I tell you? The Julia Cameron book must have been re-released or something because it was available on Amazon last time I placed an order and so I have it too. Of course, in November I already have “the right to write” so I’ll hold off on going through it until after I’ve conquered my story.

I’m sure mine will be good eventually. ;) It’s certainly not dull!
