NaNoWriMo Day Three

Filed in NaNoWriMo2007

My runaway character still doesn’t have a plot, but we’ve established that she started her motorcycling career by taking a ride on the back of a bike and insisting that the rider ride faster. And that she’s a decent motorcycle mechanic too.

I have the inkling of an idea that she’s a vampire with too much humanity, and accidentally kills someone she doesn’t want to kill. And maybe she’s looking for some kind of salvation or to become a human again or something. I don’t know. I’m just plugging away at the minimum number of words per day and seeing how it goes. Maybe I’ll have some time later to figure out a few plot directions so it’s not just vignettes from the life of a vampire biker chick who doesn’t know where to go.

I’m getting over my “I’m too busy” objections to writing the story by doing it first thing, even before coffee.

I’ve been agonizing over a plot all week. Since the 1rst, I’ve gone back and forth between writing fantasy and supernatural fiction myself. My main problem with both was I couldn’t figure out the why of either story — You know, *why* did the demons want the talisman the chick the Hunters are looking for has? Or *why* does the female warrior show up in the seedy bar in the border town looking for the other love of her life and why is she trying to avoid the soldiers and keep anyone from finding out she’s there? I finally settled on the latter. I’m going to start writing tomorrow at a write-in. I’ve been trying to flesh out some stuff in my brain today — plus, I don’t work well when it’s overcast and rainy.

I’m always in awe of the folks who can just start writing and go. I know nano’s not supposed to be about agonizing over it, but I can’t help myself. I’m glad you’re doing so well. :)

I’d add you to my buddy list, but I don’t know what your handle is over there.

I want to know about “the other love of her life”. She has two? Or more? *grin* That is a plot all by itself.

    I’m whytraven over there. :)

I don’t think this would be NaNo without some agonizing.

Very true! I am not hitting my minimum numbers per day, but I am writing, and that makes me happy in itself! Plot, Phfaaa!!! I have chapter headings instead. ;-)

See! Being happy is good. :)

I have been padding my plot by talking to myself. It’s really a very crappy little novel and that’s fine. I’m doing it because it’s fun. :-P
