Mr. Pickle's sandwich

Here’s a sandwich from Mr. Pickle’s. Until I’d moved to this area, I’d never heard of this is a small chain which makes absolutely wonderful sandwiches.

In a no-frills environment reminiscent of Subway and the like, an exceptionally friendly staff will assemble you a little basket full of excellent sandwich. There are several choices of bread including sweet rolls and wheat rolls, and “everything” includes a nummy garlic sauce that you’ll want to avoid if anyone will be smelling your breath in the next hour or three.

The Stockton branch (5350 Pacifc Avenue, near the Starbucks) seems to be a favorite of local cops and EMTs.

Pictured here is a “Golden Gate” which, aside from all the usual salad fixings, has a chicken breast, teriyaki and Jack cheese. I tried their BBQ melt (chicken breast, BBQ sauce and melted cheese), but unfortunately the vendor forgot to melt the cheese and it didn’t quite work cold. I’m sure, however, that there will be many more flavors in my future. ;)

The gourmet sandwiches are $6.99 each and there are a set of standard deli sandwiches (roast beef, salami, turkey…etc.) ranging from $5.99 to $6.49. I’m told that the pastrami is good. You can pad your meal out with chips, cookies and potato salad, but I found that one whole sandwich was pushing the limits of what it means to be full. ;)

Wow. That sandwich looks yummy. I’m salivating like a leashed bull dog with a bone just out of reach. BTW, what happened to the calorie counter? You don’t wanna let us know how much that monster will pad on to the extra 60 pounds you have? :)

I don’t know how many calories it has. AFAIK, it’s not published online, and I didn’t ask for the nutritional guide, if any, in the store.
