A late night rambling

Filed in Geekiness, Motorcycling

I decided to revert to the older Cutlines theme because the new one is nearly 1000 pixels wide and was just too crowded. I’ve had a delightful time tonight making it look just so, and it even works in 800 x 600 browsers now. Things clicked into place and I have a sense that this is The One.

It’s true: learning really does give you a natural high!

I hope you like this variant, because I intend to keep it around for a while (longer than three days, even).

I’ve also decided to continue tagging posts and to keep a smaller number of broader categories. The tags will not be shown, which helps to keep my listings on Google clean, but they will be there to help along the “Related Posts” feature.

Thanks to pussreboots I now know how to check who is reading my feeds and I am happy to note that I have at least 11 readers. ;-)

I went for a little ride this morning. It was gray and overcast and I actually thought it would rain, but it didn’t. I listen to my instincts and follow through on my hunches, and one of them was to reconnect with a friend I hadn’t seen for three years. I thought about calling, but then decided to just trust that it would work out and show up. Twenty minutes later I was in Palo Alto being reunited with Dee, a wonderful chiropractor. We chatted while we could and have tentatively arranged to meet in a couple of weeks’ time.

It didn’t feel like there were three years between us at all.

On the way back I called in at a bunch of shops to pick up application forms/information. The times, they are a-changing. I also got a new pair of jeans, which makes the number of pairs of jeans I can find two, and the number of pairs of jeans I own three plus one with a very annoying hole in a very undesirable location.

There was a very bad accident on El Camino. It looked like cyclist vs. minivan. There were two fire engines, at least one ambulance, a photographer with professional-level equipment and someone videotaping it from the balcony of an upstairs apartment. All this I noticed because the traffic stopped dead.

And then I went home. I feel bad for the cyclist and for the minivan driver.

To-do: resize/add different images at top of page; add buttons so people can automatically add my feed to their readers; sleep. One out of three will be done tonight.

Ooh pretty photo in the header. Where is it? 11 readers is about where I was a year ago when I first started syndicating my feed. Your readership will grow. :D

Oooh random header images. Very nice. I’ve been toying with doing that on mine but haven’t yet. The previous photo was of a pub somewhere.

The pub picture was taken in Paradise Valley, Nevada, a really startling farming oasis somewhat northeast of Winnemucca.

Yup, random pics. One of today’s project is to replace the stock ones with pictures I took. :)

I have random pics (which I wrote myself) up at Markeroni, too (but not on the blog).
