June 29 - heading home

Filed in Nevada 2006

In the motel lobby I found a public use computer, so I quickly checked my email. Barb had sent me articles about wildfires all over the state. I had been missing them but it seemed futile to try to go anywhere. I went into turbo-go-home mode…but still managed to get a few snarfs.

I rode 450 miles. It was a record for me. When I couldn’t maintain my speed on I-80 I pulled in at a motel in Fernley.

The interesting rocky pictures are on US-93. The little hut is an original pony express hut that was moved to the museum at Elko. Elko was very neat: I want to go back. In Carlin I hurt my hand on a stuck gas pump–the gas release lever was fully in and when it twanged out it caught me painfully–and I didn’t find any of the snarfs.

There is an awful lot of Sky out there.
