Finally got out of the door sometime around 10:30, but it was 11:00 before I got on a freeway. Apart from getting a bit lost around Fremont–I seem doomed to miss the Mission exit almost every time and then to wander aimlessly round the city–things went smoothly.

I had a little “yay” moment around the time I crossed the Benicia Bridge; it felt like a road trip at that point, I was no longer in the Bay Area. And another one as I took the left fork onto US-50–first time I’d ever done that road solo, and the first time for nearly 10 years.
