Don and I didn’t get to bed until gone 3, so needless to say we had a late start. I earned kudos points by going to Denny’s and fetching a Coke: Motel 6 is a Pepsi chain, and I wanted coffee.

Don went west on I-80 and I went east, feeling a bit sad. It had been nice to be having fun together.

The advantage of starting off in Vallejo was that I had a shorter ride, so could take it kind of easy. It was a pleasant enough ride and I landed in Reno, where there was wireless.

The pictures:
(1) Donner Summit. The scenery reminds me of Slovenia.

(2) Verdi. It’s pretty, and I went to visit the park as well. Apparently there is a marker to the Great Train Robbery there, as well, which I missed.

(3) Truckee River, from a viewpoint on the interstate. The river is visible from the line of trees. There’s a railroad, and the LincolnHighway went this way as well.
