8/48 So! You vant to see ze cat?

Filed in Blog

Here you go, then. An introduction to my cats.

Gracie

Gracie

This is Gracie, born about 1996. She was the first cat, and we brought her in in 1998. She had been abandoned in an apartment complex and, as I always loved black and white cats, it was love at first sight. She was terrified of everyone and anything at the time. Now, she’s terrified of everyone and anything except me and Don. If you visit, she is the cat you will never see.

JR

JR

JR was also born, feral, in 1996. We got him when he was two and the feral rescue center sort of begged us to take him in. He was a bit wild, but had been somewhat socialized through human contact and is now a big lump of a love bug.

At the time we got him, he had a big chunk out of his tail which is why he had been brought in. Later, he contracted hepatic lipidosis, a serious disease which took months of nursing to fix. We’re glad we persevered.

If you visit, he will view you from on high, being inscrutable.

Silver

Silver

Silver was born about 1998, and we got her in 2000, She had been abandoned in a box marked “kittons,” so she has been The Kitton every since. Some friends took her in but they did that a lot and ended up with 20 cats, so I promised to house one. She is a loony. When we first had her she was shy and reticent but in a smaller household she blossomed into our only real cat extrovert.

If you visit, she’ll come and check you out and demand scritchies.

Oh I love them all!! Especially JR, what a pile of love! I’ll let you know quickly about the Siamese. I’d love to take her, but I must ask the family before I say yay or nay. Thank you for posting the pictures for me.

*tries to remember if I had a rare Gracie sighting*

It looks like you brought them in at separate times, how did the transitions go (between the cats)?

I think Vino had only two months alone with me before I brought Darren and Elizabeth home. And of course, none of them like Strut (my outsider).

I think I’ve caught sight of a few of these kitties in previous posts, but it’s nice to have a proper introduction!

Polli: would it help if I took a picture of her?

Marina: I think I might have dragged her out for you!

None of the transitions were really that hard…there was some sulking/fighting and they still jostle for power but it didn’t seem to take that long.

    beautyredefined: Cool :)

They’re adorable! But I’m leaning towards JR. A pile of love, indeed! Makes me want to cuddle next to him for the rest of Blogathon. *hee*

    Cats are so funny.

Mine — poor thing, no real name besides Kitty — is best buds with the dog. And is much more sociable to visitors than the dog is too! She would come a-running if someone came to the door.

Teejei: he’d probably let you! Scritch his rump and he’s anyone’s. ;)

Buffra: Kitty is a really good name for a kitty!
