Thursday Thirteen: #17: 13 beers I have enjoyed
Filed in Blog
- Guinness, directly imported from Dublin at the Irish pub in Dortmund.
- Blue Moon from the Blue Moon Brewing Company
- Red Kite ale from the Black Isle Brewery
- Cascade Amber from the Tied House
- Tecate, from Baja California
- Hobgoblin Ale and Black Wych from the Wychwood Brewery. I don’t think I ever tried The Dog’s Bollocks.
- Theaksten’s Old Peculier (that is NOT a spelling mistake).
- Tetley’s bitter from Leeds. They still deliver the beer on carts drawn by huge shire horses.
- Adnams Best Bitter
- Orkney Dark. I’ve only ever had it once and oh, was it marvelous. (They also brew Raven Ale, and I have one of their beer mats somewhere.)
- John Smith’s bitter.
- Redruth bitter (I forget which one I tried)
- Samuel Smith’s pale ale.
You know, this brings up tons of memories, of good nights out with friends and family.
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! I like Blue Moon too! Not sure if it is available where you are, but have you tried Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat? It’s pretty similar — my husband was a HUGE Blue Moon fan until Sunset Wheat came out earlier this year.
GREAT list & happy TTing!

Mmm, I LOVE Blue Moon. Especially with an orange on the side of the glass!

I think I can count the number of beers I’ve drunk on one hand. I’d never be able to do a TT about beer. LOL. Happy TT.

Heh, I can count the number of beers I’ve enjoyed on no hands, lol. I have yet to find one that I like, but I’ll happily take a cider instead!

Hello Penny — thanks for visiting. :) I’ve never heard of Leinenkugel’s, but if I spot it I shall most certainly give it a shot. I was introduced to the Blue Moon by a friend, and couldn’t resist introducing my husband to it when I saw it in the store the other day.

Hi Lisa :) Yeah, that’s how I saw it served the first time I met the beer, as well. :)

Pussreboots: do you not drink at all, or just not beer? *grin*

BR: cider tends to give me headaches, but I do like the sweet ones. :)

Hi Nicholas! Alas no, I’ve never been to a pub that actually served it!

I’m not much of a drinker full stop. Not for any special reasons. I just don’t like the taste and I don’t like what it does to my head.
That being said, I have drunk beer just not much of it and certainly not 13 varieties.

Cool. I’ve learned about the glycemic index since starting to drink beer, so it’s a reasonably rare treat. Sometimes when I’m really hyped up I will use it to wind down. I can’t write or think or concentrate after half a can of beer, so it’s a good way to signal “stop!” to myself.

Great List. I notice not to many of the west coat micro brews, so a quick recommendation for any of the Rogue Brewery offerings. Yum!!!
