Total lunar eclipse, 28 August 2007
Filed in Living an Interesting LifeHere is an awesome link about the total lunar eclipse next Tuesday.
It gives links with exact start and end dates for a whole bunch of different time zones.
So who’s going to get up early/pull an all-nighter?
The last total lunar eclipse I experienced was an awesome event. I believe that I was a second year at Lancaster University, so about nineteen years old, and went out there with my boyfriend, and three of my roomies. We drove the back roads around Lancaster, up to the crags, and hung about there trying to glimpse the moon through typical English clouds. We had no idea where it would be; just that it was there. Izzy and Steve were having a competition to see who could eat a doughnut for the longest without licking their lips. Hilarity ensued.
Then we saw it: the great blood-red disk of the moon. The car fell silent. We watched and waited and then the clouds came over once again and hid the moon. The clouds never parted again and we went back to our home, full of its magic. And doughnuts.

Thanks for sharing. You’d think with my astronomy grad student friends I’d have heard about this already, but no. I might just have to get up early to see this. :)

I’ll set my alarm early and endure TrollBoy’s wrath. I’ll take an audiobook with me :D
