Thursday Thirteen #11: 13 things I did on my first day off from work
Filed in Blog
- Didn’t set my alarm and therefore didn’t wake up at 05:30 and woke up naturally at seven-something. Bliss.
- Hacked down my Markeroni backlog from 500 or so items to 350. Wow. Progress.
- Wrote several blog articles and forward-posted them.
- Visited and commented on other blogs, and caught up on replying to comments on my own blog.
- Did two paid posts.
- Folded and put away the laundry. More is being generated as we speak.
- Reduced my inboxes by about 50%–deleting unnecessary email reminders, replying to email, reading newsletters.
- Ran errands: bank, cat food. Two kinds. The checker had her own dog with her and I was sniffed and wagged at unmercifully.
- Contemplated the vast array of bruises, dings and scrapes sustained during the first five days of work. I haven’t been this banged-up since I earned the title of Terminator as a beginning biker.
- Read the letter telling us that we are “expected” out of here by midnight, 1st October. Also, that we were expected to figure out our house tax status, because heaven forbid that they do the homework themselves and actually inform us.
- Ate In N Out burgers sitting on the grass of the Civic Center park. Watched the world go by.
- Took, and posted, my Photo of the Week.
- Did a big food shop. Fruit once again plays a role in my life.

I know I’m lucky to get to sleep in until 8am everyday, but it comes with its downsides. Cleaning, cooking, getting up in the middle of the night over and over and over, and being kicked in the face while trying to sleep, and being pooped on and puked on and… oh, wait, those are the perks of parenthood, lol.
I love a day off, I just don’t get them on holidays, even.

Sounds busy and productive. Hope it was restful for your poor, aching feet, too!

Hi Robin! It’s fun, and I do think my co-workers are great, but I’m annoyed to be doing full-time hours when I signed up for a p/t job. I wrote something about it here:

QTpies: I hear you! Even when I could rise/sleep when I felt like it, I had a busy day: now it’s worse.
