The end of morning coffee
Filed in Blog, Morning Coffee, MotorcyclingI missed my morning coffee on Tuesday, both literally and figuratively. I drink my brew with milk, and the powdered stuff just doesn’t wash it. I also missed my Morning Coffee feature.
Anyway, for a week or so now I’ve been experimenting with a little feature called Morning Coffee, a biker-link-a-day. I’ve decided that after Friday I’m going to discontinue it, and here’s why.
Originally, the idea was to have something to come here for, every day. Now, though, it’s quite apparent that I am not short on content. I’m writing two articles/features a day and adding something with photographs, too. Then there are the paid posts. I would rather ease off a little and overwhelm neither myself nor this blog’s readers.
Secondly, I’m not really enjoying it, on two levels. Level One: I’m tired of sifting through all the news alerts that talk about bikers getting killed. For heaven’s sakes, we do marvelous things on a daily basis, and getting killed isn’t part of that! I think I’d rather weave the non-killy pieces into article ideas of my own. Level Two: I’m finding the pace a bit much, and because I have to do it every day I think that the quality is decreasing. With taking on a job, it’s only going to get worse.
Thirdly, I think there are enough sites out there that provide biker news for me not to want to be another. I guess it just isn’t something I do well, or even for that matter enjoy that much. This is supposed to be fun!
I think that crating a blog is an experiment. It is one of those things that you refine and twiddle with until you get the right recipe. I’ve really only been at this crazy pace for a month, though it seems like longer. The blog soup needs a tweak, and an ingredient it doesn’t need is coffee. ;)

It’s too bad because I was enjoying not always having to read about bikers being killed and getting it in one place. ;-) But I completely understand why you could (and would ) feel that way. either way I love your blog. :-)

I’m still getting the alerts; I’m thinking of doing a variant, maybe highlighting two or three stories a week. That way, I’m not always scrabbling for something to write (some of the news stories were borderline).
