Ride ‘em cowboy
Filed in Blog, PhotographyDid you ever wonder where shopping carts came from?
Yesterday I discovered that shopping carts are corraled into trailers and returned all spanking clean and shiny–en masse. There are entire industries set up around supermarkets. Shopping cart cleaners–who’d have thunk?

Thanks for the interesting photo!
I wish they’d show-up at my supermarket-the carts are not clean-I’m thinking of changing stores! I read a study showing that the handles on shopping carts are heavily contaminated with all sorts of horrendous bacteria. At one store I go to, they have disinfectant wipes next to the carts to wipe the handles.
When I see a baby in a cart with her mouth on the handle it makes me very upset. They do sell covers so babies don’t touch the carts. These keep the baby safe from germs and keeps the carts cleaner for all of us!
Can’t believe I’ve gone on this long about shopping carts-I must have some pent-up frustration!

The grocery chains also pay a pretty bounty for each returned cart.

That’s cool! I used to work at a grocery store and I never saw our carts get cleaned.

FFF — it never bothers me; I see the wipes at the doorway in Safeway, too, but find that wasteful. I just wash my hands when I get home. But I can see the value of washing the carts once in a while–I wonder how they do it, a giant dishwasher? :)
Thank you for visiting!

Is there an “about” anywhere on your lime site? I’m a bit confuzzed as to what it’s all about.
