About
Introduction
Hi! I’m Linda Raven Moore: motorcycle author and rider, blogger, freelance writer, RVer and petter of cats. The site’s subtitle is “how to live an interesting life.” Raven’s Roads, then, is about “traveling the roads of life”–whatever those might be.
You will find articles about motorcycle trips, non-motorcycle travel, day trips, adventures, and how to lead an interesting life. Sometimes there are opinion pieces, special projects (like NaNoWriMo, the Blogathon, etc.) and reviews. And finally, this is the home of the White Raven Award, an award for bloggers who interweave their personality into the site to create a wonderful blog.
If you want my motorcycle-only blog, try Raven’s Rides. If you want to know about life in an RV, try Raven’s RV.

You can also receive a weekly email summary of the week’s posts: send a contact form (no need to write a message) and check the “subscribe” checkbox.
Last but not least, I post summaries of all my sites here at the weekend.
If you’re going to comment on this blog, and I’d dearly love you to, please read the comments policy first. The policy page has information about privacy, comments, legal stuff, linking, and paying the bills.
Evolution
The original Raven’s Roads was a standard HTML site which I’d set up in 2003 to chronicle a month-long solo motorcycle trip. I planned my little heart out only to have the bike break two gears a few days before departure. Bummer.
The energy left over had to go somewhere so, after the initial wailing and gnashing of teeth, I turned Raven’s Roads into a motorcycle fanzine. I updated it sporadically over the next year or so until somehow I got pointed at Wordpress, saw a perfect solution, and dived headlong into the world of Having My Own Blog.
Eventually Raven’s Roads morphed into a site about travel and motorcycling, to which was eventually added my travel book, and then expanded into a site to share my adventures and writing and to provide suggestions for turning life into an adventure.
What can I say? It’s a creative project, and it’s taken on a life of its own. :-P
Eventually I started a couple of niche blogs because I wanted to focus all three sites a little more sharply. Raven’s Roads, Raven’s RV and Raven’s Rides are all intended to complement one another.
About Me
I am a 37 year old motorcycle-riding historical-marker-chasing author, freelance writer and increasingly full time blogger who is owned by three cats. Under a different (i.e. my legal) name, I am the owner and wearer of all hats at Annwn Web Creations LLC, a small company that builds and maintains web sites, especially online communities. Its biggest projects are the Raven blogs and Markeroni, the Gentle Art of Landmark-Snarfing.
If you see a typo, it’s a cat’s fault.
I was born and bred in West Yorkshire, bestowed with a degree in Lancashire, married, divorced, accidentally met a Californian called Don online, emigrated and married him in 1997. We live in an RV in the California Delta. When I’m not writing, hunting down markers to their lair, riding my bike (Beastie, a ‘96 Suzuki Intruder 1400) or being mauled by my cats, I love to leave books in strange places, play in the blogosphere, and enjoy good food and good conversation.
My first travel book, “A Little Twist of Texas,” came out in 2006. You can buy it from this site, or request it at your public library. (You can also order it from Amazon/your local bookstore but a) it’ll most likely be cheaper from here and b) you’ll get a signed copy from here. Just sayin’.)
I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up, and now I am.
What’s with the ravens?
White Raven and variants thereof has been my online handle since 1995.
Everywhere I go, ravens and crows seem to hang out and say howdy. It’s rather neat. :)
