Whoah…nine days into December already. Time is ticking past at an alarming pace and yet I seem to be in this kind of stasis, waiting for something…perhaps the solstice and the return of the light? I’m really thrown for a loop without the paid posts–whatever anyone might say about them, they were paying the rent, and gave me a focal point that I’m kind of missing right now.

On the other hand I have had the opportunity to catch up on my accounting. That was…interesting. I also added content to a couple of sites for which I’d reserved the domains some time ago, have some ideas for a third, re-opened a fourth, and just need to get started on the last one with “nothing” there.

JR went to the vet again; this time he came back looking better than when we left us, so we think we’ve finally found a competent vet. Even JR was relaxed around him: the guy has a real way with critters and obviously loves them dearly.

JR now has a heart murmur and anemia, quite possibly due to a secondary infection, but the crystal blockage hasn’t recurred. We’ve been ramming antibiotics and vitamin supplements down him (much to his disdain) and hoping that this will do the trick. He goes back for a checkup next week. Oh, and he has special food now that he doesn’t mind eating in the least. ;)

There’s a whole bunch going on inside my mind, figuring out what I want to do and how I want to–writing, living, even emptying the (well, a) storage shed–but not too much actually being translated to action. I suppose things must brew before they progress to that point.

I’m going a little stir-crazy, though, feeling stale. Just the December blahs–happens every year. ;) I paid rent this morning which means we’ve been here four weeks already. It seems like once you get past October time accelerates and the next thing you know you’re surrounded in gift wrap and sliding into a new year.

What I really need to do is join the library and start checking out books and spending more time reading. I could use the escapism, I think. Looking back on the year I realize that I’ve done way too much doing and nowhere near enough being. It shows. ;)

We attended the Lodi festival of lights/Christmas parade on Thursday, in the middle of a lovely storm that allegedly came over from Alaska. Stood there in the rain grinning my head off at the succession of floats and groups swathed in lights. We’ve also been for a couple of rides. It’s much nicer here than in the Bay Area in that while it’s full-blown holiday season it’s not murderously dangerous to be out. Sure, there are insane shopaholic drivers but nowhere near as many.

We set off to the Bay Area yesterday for a day trip but I was cold going there and aborted the trip at Tracy (a third of the way). I knew that if I was that cold in the sunlight it would be an order of magnitude colder coming back at night.

You know, I noticed that my advent calendar’s opened windows form part of the overall scene. There was a picture of a hedgehog with a hat on…and above it a startled-looking skier doing the splits to avoid it. The mouse image is sledding with a bunch of other sledders…I could go on. It’s probably one of the neatest advent calendars that I’ve ever had. :)

Time does fly fast, especially at this time of the year. I think it has to do with anticipation. We’re all waiting for the year end, and the days before just seem to dissappear. Maybe Santa has a gift just for you, something better than paid posts.

    That’s about it. :)

Maybe he does…though the paid posts are starting to come back, too, which is nice. :)

Hey, guess what? I just had someone pay me for 15 books that he took on spec earlier this year…now that’s a Christmas present!

    Yay Santa! *grin*
