I bet my Dad could tell me what these are

Filed in Blog, Daily Photo
Blue velvety flowers

This bowl of blue velvety flowers caught my eye as I walked by the other week. I’ve seen flowers like this before, but I don’t know their name. I suspect my Dad could tell me. :)

I’m definitely not your dad, but I’d say they are petunias.

Pretty sure those are African Violets.

They are Petunias. They come in oodles of different colours but, naturally, the purple ones are my faves.

Not African Violets. Those are my houseplant that I grow as a specialty, along with my orchids.

No, those are petunias. They come in all sorts of colors, including stripes. That’s a healthy batch!

Look up petunias on the internet and you’ll find a photo that looks just like that. African violets have fuzzy leaves and mostly are grown indoors.

I think they’re petunias, too. Do they have a sweet scent? (Or can you tell with all the smoke?) Petunias come in a lot of different colors.

Way too big to be African violets. They are purple petunias.

oh, happy memory! there was a huge bed of pale, pale, pale pink petunias at Hearst Castle — so pale they looked white until you look closely. really lovely.
