Silicon Valley does have trees with leaves that fall, but nothing spectacular. It seemed that everywhere I looked in Calistoga the leaves were falling down. As I walked down this street, I was struck by the light catching the golden leaves of these trees. It was a gray day, preparing to rain, so the shaft of sunlight was particularly glorious.
(Again, I’d love it if someone would educate me as to what kind they are.)

Hmm, that would make sense…the uplifted branches do remind me of orchards.

It’s hard to tell from the photo, but they look like some kind of ornamental apple tree, or maybe pear or cherry.
