Eeyore meets draft horse
Filed in BX Convention 2007After the talks I met up with Reggiesgirl (BusyBookLover) and her husband Reggie as they had invited me to go somewhere. We tried to get out to see some lighthouses but could only find a square one anywhere close, and that wouldn’t do. So we decided to go for a coach tour. They were very patient with me as I fought with sleeplessness and jetlag until I finally got my second wind. ;-)
It was hard to hear the guide, but what I did hear was interesting and fun. Particularly interesting were the turquoise-painted awnings designed to keep away the “haunts”, and the brief introduction to gullah, which is a dialect peculiar to this area–a bastardization of English, Spanish, and other languages.
Amusement of the day was that the mules were called Bobby…and Linda. Linda was kind of crazy. ;-) Every time they stopped, Bobby would put on the brakes hard enough to jolt everyone, and then Linda would bite him. ;-)
The mules are a cross between a giant donkey (who’d've thunk it?) and draft horses.
I loved spending that time with the Reggies. They are such nice people and were having a great time!
