Corvid

Crow

On an afternoon where the air cleared a little, I went for a short walk. This crow was cawing merrily from the pinnacle of this tree.

I wish my zoom were more than 3x.

I had to google ‘Corvid’. How the heck do you come to know all these words anyway?

Well…I have an above-average acquaintance with ravens and crows. ;)

But I first learned the word from reading a novel by a Canadian author (Charles de Lint) who writes urban fantasy. There are humans, and then there are the animal-people, sometimes human, sometimes animals. The corvidae were the crow family.

And then I have some birding friends, too.
