Corning

Filed in Blog, RVing

I’m having microwaved coffee at Camp Flying J, since Flying J has run out of its small size cups of coffee and I do not need 16oz of caffeine in the morning. We arrived very late last night, filled up the gas tanks, figured our actual fuel consumption, and winced. Harvey has apparently got the aerodynamics of a brick swimming upriver, and this knowledge really puts a crimp in where we think we can take him. I’m very disappointed.

Flying J is absolutely identical to the one in Lodi, except that it’s in Corning. It’s noisy and buzzy and the air is filled with the sound of slow jake brakes and diesel acceleration. We got in quite late last night and pretty much the only thing I felt like doing was going to sleep, which happened in about ten seconds flat. There’s wireless here, but I’m not sure whether Don was able to connect to it or not. There are priorities. ;)

There is something weird going on with our house charging system. Apparently it’s charging, but the sensor screams that we’re out of electrons. I’m not sure what’s up with that.

Anyway, some time later today we’ll be moving on to a more interesting pad. There’s a state recreation area not six miles from here that will probably fit the bill, and I’d like to take a look around Corning. I don’t know that we’ll make it all the way up to Red Bluff though.

I’ve run out of things to tell you about Camp Flying J, so I’m going to make breakfast now and start my day.

I think I’ve stayed at the Flying J with my family. Would have been at least 20 years ago.

Cool! They let RVers stay overnight for “free” (you usually end up buying gas or internet or somesuch).
