Miscellaneous changes and intentions part 2

This is a statement of intent: I intend to start experimenting and making some money from my blogging.

I’ve put some thought into this. While I was initially skeptical about paid reviews, they are very common and it does not bother me when I see paid posts on other sites. Many are actually well written and interesting. I need something to keep the hosting paid, and really, I love to write. I’m looking at it as another opportunity to get paid for doing what I love. I am somewhat relishing the challenge of making these posts interesting in their own right.

I intend to:

Only pick projects where I get to give an honest opinion (they let me be constructively critical) or where I, personally, think the subject matter is cool or relevant enough to cover.
Pick projects which are interesting enough to me for me to turn them into a piece worth reading regardless of whether it are sponsored or not.
Identify all paid projects as paid projects (i.e. I will not take any projects where I am not allowed to disclose the status, which frankly I believe is shabby.)

We will see how this goes. All posts tagged “Lunch Money” will be paid posts.

If you find a combination that works, be sure to share the details! Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with it as long as it’s all done above-board.

I have been experimenting with some google ads but I think i will be removing them due to the lack of clicks (they also make the blog look a little shabby.)

Who are you using for paid reviews?

BR: Thanks! Here’s hoping. I bid for some jobs yesterday, but don’t think I’ve had any acceptances yet, unless I have to go log in to find them. We’ll see.

Michael: will do! I’m very new to this but we’ll see how it goes. PayPerPost seems to be a safe bet no matter what; the others require either more traffic than I have, or you have to bid and they take a cut. It’ll be pocket money to begin with, I’m sure.

VM: Try blending the ads in–making them the same colour as the rest of your site. Also, make use of hte customisation stuff that cuts some text out as far as the ad spider is concerned, and makes other text more interesting (in other words, filter it until you get nothing but ads about vespas.) That’s what I’ve done with mine. The trouble with Google is that it takes forever to get paid. But if you increase traffic it will get there eventually!

There is another ad company that pays out at $10. I’d go with them if I hadn’t already committed to Google.
