6/48 Cats

Filed in Blog

Thank you so much to my sponsors: AmberLee, Buffra, Kiptrix, Phelan, and Polliwog!

Each pledge comes with free adrenaline and to keep me going. Please pledge.

Cats are not a place…but they seem, somehow, very present. I was never fully owned by a cat until I moved to America, but I’ve always loved them and they’ve always seemed to swing by.

Wherever you are with a cat, you are anchored. There is nothing more important than the cat. Since we all move at the speed of light, it’s good to just stay still for a while.

Cats are very good at staying still, especially when you want to go somewhere.

Science has proven that people who pet animals are mellower in general, and I’ve just spent a few minutes outside with the abandoned Siamese on my lap. I’m not sure who was purring loudest.

Gracie is in the window again, looking out at the rapidly warming morning. Silver and JR flit in from time to time.

Life would be lesser without cats.

Hi to Gracie! I may name my next cat Gracie Belle. That was to be Leo’s name if he turned out to be a girl but obviously he is a boy. LOL.

I still mourn my cat (actually my best friend — is that lame?) Farley that mysteriously vanished last year on my BookCrossing anniversary no less (Aug 3). Now I have a dog, and it is an adjustment and the reason I have the dog is sad in itself too, she belonged to my friends that died this summer in a plane crash. I adopted her.

I’d love to see a picture of your cat babies if you can find one later. :-)

I’m having a hard time keeping up with the schedule! But yes, I have copious number of cat pictures. I’ll see if I can’t find some.

*hugs* for your friends but so good that you got to keep the dog.

Would you like a Siamese cat? She lived with a dog before. She was abandoned here a few months ago.

Hey there! Props to your sponsors and to you for doing great so far. Just relax and don’t be overly paranoid of the time. You don’t have to post right on the dot, just don’t miss two straight hours.

    I’ll be cheering for you!

Oh I love Siamese! Shall I come get her in person? :-) Great excuse for a vacation, which I DESPERATELY need. You are doing so great Linda. I am sure you’ll get into a rhythm.

    teejei–thanks! :-)

Polli–you’ll have to be reasonably quick if you want to come pick up the cat, since we’ll be moving out probably within a week or so. (OTOH, we have been saying that since March.)

But if you are serious–she really needs a home. And I think you would provide a lovely one. Let me know.

I will take you snarfing! :)

(She won’t be left to fend–I am otherwise going to be trying to find her a place through a local Siamese rescue. So let me know.)

Life would be lesser without cats.

I keep trying to tell my husband that, but he isn’t buying it. Keeping my 3 insiders is going to be an ongoing struggle, but I’m up for it.

    Marina: you’re kidding? S doesn’t like cats?!

    I had no idea.

He like certain personalities (the kind that don’t piss on his things when he’s been antagonistic to them). We’re at the point where my office design (the cabin-type one) has to include adequate cat spots, as he wants them out of the house, and I refuse to make them outside cats.

IMO, he has a rather different attitude regarding animals; his expectations are rather unreasonable. But, I still love him!
