On Tuesday morning we went to the Groam House museum which contained a bunch of Pictish stones and carvings. It was a fascinating place with a 20′ slab at its centre. The museum is free and relies on donations and gift sales, as do many little places. It’s one of those places we’ve driven past but never actually stopped at.

Then we explored the local churchyard, and I got to take a little walk down on the beach, which was intensely peaceful.

The rest of the afternoon was babysitting the little one, playing with her and getting used to one another. My brother and SIL invited me overnight so I joined them and we spent a pleasant evening together. This morning I went for a walk with A. up the Fairy Glen which is a local woodland walk. Think mossy, deep gorges with rivers running down them and a waterfall at the end, then another scramble to another waterfall where a tree trunk sits, crammed with coins - a gift to the fairies. It was beautiful, peaceful, and quite magical. Found a candle - the remains of a ritual - the water below was brown with peat. It was lovely and I feel like my muscles are grateful to me. :-)
