Brown paint

Filed in Blog

Today I spent a goodly amount of the day in the paints aisle, blissfully matching the little bottles of acrylic paint with their place on the shelf. There were nice neat dividers to squeeze them into and little colored tabs which often bore no resemblance to reality. I chuckled at some of the colors. Beachcomber beige. How do they come up with this stuff?

This is a blissful job for me. I am the sort of person who, were she wealthy enough, would purchase one of every color just so that she could look at the pretty colors. In the early days of my marriage, Don and I went down the towel aisle at K-Mart and bought one of every color, simply because we could. I love color–color just for the sake of it. My parents sometimes had to prevent me from taking one of each different paint-shade card at the home improvement stores.

Towards the end of the day, one of the bottles burst. It was brown. Not just any old brown, though. This was special solid poop brown, and now it was all over my fingers.

I giggled all the way to the bathroom. ;)

There’s something about brown paint. It’s always the one to randomly open up or burst or spring a slow leak. And it’s always the one that’s poop colored and somewhat slimy. LOL.

    Really?

I’ve often *said* paints were that color, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one for which THAT was the official name. That is too funny!

I’m glad you’re enjoying the job.

Well…it’s good you like stocking the paint. Because I don’t think they will give you a job naming the paint any time soon.

    :D

Buffra: LOL! Probably not. I was looking at the amazing variety with such silly names and thinking, “Why not just say light yellow, dark yellow, etc.”

    No, probably not my vocation.
