A walk on the sandy beach

Sandy Beach is a Solano County park, a well-kept place which really does adjoin a sandy beach, albeit one associated with the river and the Delta. The morning after we settled in, I wandered down to the river and discovered this for myself, spending a peaceful while making footprints in the sand.

In the distance, the first of a series of bamboo groves juts up improbably against the embankment.

I found my way down on a well-worn path.

I was definitely not the first one to pass this way!

Looking back, the boat launch was not launching. This seemed to be fairly common in the area: I don’t know if it was a seasonal thing, or just that the water levels were unusually low.

The bamboo clumps had paths through them, seeming to create a series of secluded “secret gardens.”

In many places, dead trees and drift wood lay undisturbed, bleaching in the sun.
