Blog Day 2007
Filed in BlogToday it is Blog Day 2007.
The objective is to find five blogs that I’ve never head of before, and do a mini review of each one, thus spreading linky goodness all across the blogosphere and getting to know people and all sorts of good stuff.
So here goes.
Fishing Jones
Do not view this blog if you do not like seeing real dead fished fish. I do not know if this is a site about a Jones who fishes, or those who have a jones to fish. But it is a quite interesting blog about fishing and fishermen’s concerns. I did not know that there were tournaments for charity. If you want to check out something fishy, this is a good site. i found it by googling for “fishing blog” and was inspired by my Dad’s years-long liking for fishing.
(Edit: correction made, as I’m assured that most all of the fish shown are revived and returned. This is a Good Thing. Thanks to the blogger for letting me know.)
KB6NU’s Ham Radio Blog
I come from a family of radio hams. In fact, I too am a radio ham, though I haven’t had a licence for a few years. I used to be G0KLB. In fact, I still would be if I chose to pay for the licence, but there’s not much point what with being in the USA and not in possession of a rig. Anyway, this is an interesting blog about being a radio ham including some technical stuff and talk about interesting QSOs (contacts). I still remember working China and how exciting getting that very rare station was.
Antarctic Conservation Blog
Ooh, now here’s one I got very excited about. Here’s a life I will never have, because I like neither extremes of cold nor of heat. This is a blog about preserving artifacts in Antarctica and, unlike many of the Antarctic blogs I viewed and rejected, it’s current. It even has fashion tips: “What to wear in Antarctica.” No, really!
CraftZine Blog
My Mam is a crafty lady. She makes wonderful things from paper and thread. It started with her traditional Slovene lace and over the years I’ve seen her dabble in dozens of different crafts. The one she really loves is to make greetings cards. She would sell them if there were some practical way to do so, but you can never really recoup your materials on a cottage industry basis. So, she does them for love. Thus inspired, I googled for “craft blog” and came up with this one for your viewing pleasure. It highlights different projects and ideas on a regular basis.
Life, Work and Hanggliding
Hang-gliding is an almost-did activity. A relation of mine hang-glides, or at least used to, and we went up to watch. He’d asked someone to take me on a dual flight, but the conditions changed to where it would be dangerous even more dangerous. So I couldn’t go. Which is probably as well since I am actually scared of heights. But…still. At least I can fly vicariously.

Hi,
Thanks for the kind words about my blog, Fishing Jones. Although I’d like to add that most of the fish shown in photographs on my site were revived and released back into the water. I do eat some fish, but try to release most.
Best,
Pete
