Biker Chick Goes Shopping

Filed in Motorcycle Maintenance, Motorcycling

It’s hard work, but even in Silicon Valley it’s possible to be a local. This localness sometimes shows up in odd place. For example, not one, not two, but three of the male checkers in our local Safeway now recognise me when I show up in my leathers. They ask me how I’m doing, and I usually answer “Fine, it’s not raining.” Because if it’s not raining, I’m riding, and that must be fine. Even if my breath is steaming in the cold.

These little bits of recognition, of localness, make me feel a bit more at home in a place where I barely know my neighbours.

In other news, at the weekend we got the oil leak fixed and JB-welded and now no longer do I ride in clouds of nasty-smelling smoke.
