And away she walked
Filed in Daily Photo
While at the train museum, we went on a train ride, and this lady got off at the end of the tracks and started walking. I thought she was just going to take some pictures, but it turns out she is a regular; she will walk along the tracks (unused except for the museum) for a while and then come back to catch a different train.
What a neat thing to do.
She was in her sixties, very calm and peaceful, and wore a big old floppy hat. And away she dwindled, into the distance, as we all, in time, do.

That is a great image! It reminds me of the train out of Durango Colorado where people get off the train wherever they want so they can backpack in the wilderness.

Beautiful photo. When I was a child, probably 5 or 6, my parents let me go walking along the tracks in Rose canyon (in San Diego) with adult neighbors of ours. At the time they had tried and failed for years to have kids so I was their surrogate daughter while they worked on adopting children. Those felt like the best adventures.

Did they ever adopt the children?
It’s amazing how some images can evoke memories…I remember being in Nevada last year and laughing at myself for avoiding the railroad tracks in one place when I realized that no trains were coming, nor had they for years.

They adopted two and then went on to have one of their own.
