We already visited this day a few days ago when I met the wolf and the caracal. Still, there were other neat things to show you.

Rancho San Rafael Park is off exit 13 on I-80, in Reno. Well worth a visit–it has various sections, a kiddy adventure playground, an arboretum/botanical garden, museum, labyrinth. The museum and playground have a fee, but you can use everything else for free.

I went there ’cause I’d wanted to walk the labyrinth, which I did, but I also went to the museum, and the arboretum, but not the kiddy playground. ;-p

The museum was fascinating, one half was dedicated to conservation and one to the collection of Wilbur May, who seemed to have an interest in ritual items. The first picture is of a superb trompe l’oeil–it’s hard to see where mural begins and branch/stuffed leopard begin.

The second made me laugh out loud–all those guns to catch one poor little porcupine?
