27th June: US-95 A
Filed in Nevada 2006US-95 Alternate is long and straight, and parallels/follows the route of the old Lincoln Highway, a coast-to-coast route that originated in the 30s. While I didn’t exactly know what I was looking at, I could see at least one long stretch of road reaching to the horizon, with sagebrush growing either side. I don’t know why, but sagebrush lines roads, making it easier to spot them; it’s like a greenish marker line down each side.
It’s long, desolate, and beautiful. Visibility was reduced because of the heat haze. The sunrays were so thick they look like black streaks on some of my photographs. Looking at the pictures below, you’d think you were seeing the ocean, but what you’re actually seeing is the Great Salt Lake. I wasn’t that far from Utah, you see.
